Joy was in the air at our semi-annual church picnic on October 13, 2024. Fall temperatures evaded us as we gathered on almost 90 degree “Fall” day. Nevertheless, we perspired our way through and had a delightful time together as the family of Grace House.
Fall festival games, face painting, and inflatables provided lots of fun for our children. They ran and jumped and played while their parents enjoyed some free time fellowshipping with other Grace House members.
The Chili Cook Off Contest was organized by Pam Arias and provided us with homemade goodness and lots of variety. We had 8 categories of chili this year. Winners were Roger Humphreys, Marlo Callon, Carolyn Ridinger, Angela Ricks, Amy Stults, Sherry Burkes, Melinda Brown, and Crystal Biffle. All winners received a gift card.
The Candy Apple Bar was a huge hit and was organized by Kim Pettus. Melted caramel and an array of toppings made for a happy crowd. Lori Scott, Lori Wilson, Cheryl Wilson, Jan Burton, Jennifer Pruitt, Savanna Christian, Marcy Foster, Stephanie Newland, Rosemarie Parrish, and Melinda Burcham helped Kim with everything from decorating to cutting apples to serving. Of course, Anthony Pettus was behind the scenes helping Kim, too.
Chase Moore and John Christian manned up and grilled hotdogs for us all in the hot sunshine. Paige Gothard purchased our food, which was a huge job and organized the food details. Angela Ricks, R.J. Ricks, Mary Katherine Daws, and Jan Burton provided hands-on help to make the meal happen.
Sawyer Guthrie and Lexi Deaton shared their artistic abilities as they painted the faces of children and adults alike and provided a fun experience for many.
As the old saying goes, many hands make light work. While the work may not have been light for some of our leaders, it was a blessing to see so many share the load and share in the rewards of our time together.
